Third-year students have the opportunity to complete an accredited law program at an international law school or civil law school in Canada. The international requirement of the upper year may be supplemented by an international exchange for an academic semester if approved by the Vice-Dean. The most logical term for the exchange is the autumn semester of the third year, when no compulsory courses are scheduled. Letter of Permission students may be required by their home institution to take certain courses while at the University of Calgary. The availability of these courses must be confirmed prior to registration, as there are not always places available in these courses. International law students who have signed a formal exchange agreement with the University of Calgary can apply for a semester or year as exchange students at the University of Calgary.
